✓Choose appropriate category and fill in all requested information.
✓Friday, March 4th is the application deadline (postmarked).
✓Read rules for your specific category.
✓Make a check payable in the amount of $25.00 to Con Brio Music Competition.
✓A registration fee is required for each category entered.
✓Late Applications may be accepted with a $15.00 Late Fee, however, there is no guarantee late applications will be accepted.
✓Registration/Late Fee is non-refundable.
✓Contestant’s signature is required, if under 18 years of age, a parents signature is required.
✓Contestants will be assigned a time for their performance evaluation. Contestants are encouraged to keep March 24th as open as possible for both the performance evaluation and attendance of the Con Brio Awards Recital.
✓It is the contestant’s responsibility to know his/her performance evaluation time; times will be posted online at www.utahconservatory.com no later than March 14th.
✓Judges decisions are final. Contestants and parents will respect judges decisions. Any confrontation will lead to immediate disqualification.
✓Contestant will forfeit performance evaluation if they are more than 15 minutes late.
✓It is the contestant’s responsibility to find out the results of their category. Results are announced and posted online (www.utahconservatory.com) shortly after conclusion of each category.
✓Any and all awards will be given out at the awards recital. Contestants must be present to receive award.
✓Contestant must bring a self addressed, stamped envolope if they would like they would like their evaluations returned to them.

Solo Piano Rules

✓Pieces indicated on the application are subject to approval.  Changes to the repertoire after submitting the application may lead to disqualification.
✓Students may play one or two pieces of their choice that reflects their current level.
✓Piece or pieces may not be longer than 7 minutes.
✓Any and all awards will be given out at the awards recital. Contestants must be present to receive award.
✓1st & 2nd place finalists for all Solo Piano categories will be invited to play in the Con Brio Awards Recital.
✓The public is welcome to listen to the open evaluation.

Vocal Rules

✓Vocalists must select 2 pieces, one in a Classical style and the second in a Musical Theatre style.
✓Pieces indicated on the application are subject to approval.  Changes to the repertoire after submitting the application may lead to disqualification.
✓Lyrics must be family appropriate.
✓Combined pieces may not be longer than 8 minutes.
✓Contestants must provide their own accompianist.
✓Any and all awards will be given out at the awards recital. Contestants must be present to receive award.
✓1st & 2nd place finalists for all Vocal categories will be invited to play in the Con Brio Awards Recital.
✓The public is welcome to listen to the open evaluation.

Composition Rules

✓The Con Brio Music Competition is accepting original compositions for any solo or small ensemble genre (must be able to perform live at the Con Brio Event).
✓Any and all awards will be given out at the awards recital. Contestants must be present to receive award. 
✓Contestants are required to provide one copy of the submitted score (do not send original) along with the completed application.
✓The composition will be subject to a 7-minute time limit.
✓A recording of the work may be submitted with the initial application, but is not required.
✓Works, if selected, must be able to be performed live.
✓Both the contestant and the teacher will be required to sign the application certifying the contestant’s ability and availability to perform their work.
✓1st place finalist will be invited to play in the Con Brio Awards Recital (Sat. April 2nd).

Piano Concerto Rules

✓Play one movement only.
✓There is a 10 minute time limit.
✓Concerto must be played with an accompanist.
✓Contestant must provide their own accompanist.
✓1st place finalist each Piano Concerto category will be invited to perform in the Con Brio Awards Recital.
✓Any and all awards will be given out at the awards recital. Contestants must be present to receive award.

Mission Statement
The Mission of the Con Brio Music Festival is to foster a high level of excellence in piano, vocal and instrumental performance as well as to encourage and nurture the development of up-andcoming music students.  The festival imparts a ‘spirit’ of fair competition, a ‘spirit’ of fun in music making, and a ‘spirit’ of community through the variety of musical experiences provided at the Con Brio Music Festival.
